Singularity analysis of a reaction-diffusion equation with a solution-dependent Dirac delta source
We analyze the existence and singularity of solution to a reaction-diffusion equation, whose reaction term is represented by a Dirac delta function which depends on the solution itself. We prove that there exists a unique analytic solution with a logarithmic singularity at the origin.
متن کاملThe stability of the solution of an inverse spectral problem with a singularity
This paper deals with the singular Sturm-Liouville expressions $ ell y = -y''+q(x)y=lambda y $ on a finite interval, where the potential function $q$ is real and has a singularity inside the interval. Using the asymptotic estimates of a spectral fundamental system of solutions of Sturm-Liouville equation, the asymptotic form of the solution of the equation (0.1) and the ...
متن کاملExplicit finite difference solution of the diffusion equation describing the flow of radon through soil.
Radon diffusion through soil and into air is investigated. The solution of the relevant diffusion equation is given using the explicit finite difference method. Results from a two-medium model (soil-air) are compared to those from a simplified single-medium model (soil alone). The latter are an underestimate in early stages of the diffusion process. Later on, the two models match closely and ei...
متن کاملStability Criterion for Explicit Schemes (Finite-Difference Method) on the Solution of the Advection-Diffusion Equation
The numerical solutions of the advection-diffusion equation are themselves numerous and sometimes very sophisticated, in order to avoid two undesirable features: oscillatory behavior and numerical diffusion. It is known that the common practice of “splitting-up” the solution is not always the best approach to the advection-diffusion problem. By using the ordinary differential equation analogy m...
متن کاملNumerical solution of a fast diffusion equation
In this paper, the authors consider the first boundary value problem for the nonlinear reaction diffusion equation: ut −∆um = αup1 in Ω, a smooth bounded domain in Rd(d ≥ 1) with the zero lateral boundary condition and with a positive initial condition, m ∈ ]0, 1[ (fast diffusion problem), α ≥ 0 and p1 ≥ m. Sufficient conditions on the initial data are obtained for the solution to vanish or bec...
